Please contact me if you are interested in joining my research group as a post-doc, or if you want to conduct a Masters or PhD under my supervision. If I do not have available funding to support your position, I will collaborate with prospective applicants willing to secure external funding. Feel free to contact me with inquires on this regard.
The following are the main options to join my lab, although we can discuss any other alternatives:
- If you want to do a Masters, you should consider doing a Master of Research in Animal Science (see https://www.ucc.ie/en/bees/courses/postgrad/ for details and fees) but that would normally need to be self-funded. If you are from the US check the Fulbright schemes (http://www.fulbright.ie). You could also consider doing the Master of Research and applying for PhD funding during that time, so that after your Master you could transition into a PhD on a different topic.
- If you want to do a PhD, there are several sources of funding: right now the main one is IRC (http://www.research.ie/scheme/government-ireland-postgraduate-scholarship-scheme-2017), but there is also EPA (http://www.epa.ie/researchandeducation/research/epafunding/postgraduateprogrammes/), and the Marine Institute (http://www.marine.ie/Home/site-area/research-funding/research-funding/marine-institute-cullen-fellowships?language=en).
- If you want to do a post-doc, we can try IRC (http://www.research.ie/funding/postdoctoral-funding), or Marie Curie (http://ec.europa.eu/research/mariecurieactions/).
- Depending on your research interests, there are topic-specific options, e.g. Wellcome Trust for health-related topics (https://wellcome.ac.uk/funding).
